The second national strategy on Education for Sustainable Development to 2030 recognises that we face huge global challenges and that we need to work together in innovative ways to achieve positive change. The strategy is welcome and comes after a summer of catastrophic climatic events across the globe.
We know that education has a crucial role to play in addressing the climate and biodiversity crises.
We have a duty to safeguard our future and help students to manage their climate emotions. As principals, we know that our peers already face an unsustainable workload and surveys have demonstrated that teaching staff lack confidence and knowledge in the area of climate change and biodiversity.
We will share a variety of tips that cost little time and energy that can help you, in the short term, to start changing mind sets and develop a culture of agency and empowerment in your schools.
