ICT in Education - Shaping the Future of Education

The ICT in Education conference takes place on the Thurles campus of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) on Saturday 13th May.  The theme for this year’s event is ‘Shaping the Future of Education – Exploring technology that is changing the way we teach’.

Keynote addresses on the future of education and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education will be delivered by Dr Michael Hallissy from H2 Learning, and Niall Larkin from PDST.  The capstone session will deal with  the topic of ‘Cybersecurity in Education’.  A plenary address will be delivered by Ian Chambers from the Data Protection Commission, which will be followed by a panel discussion with additional input from Jennifer Cox, from Tenable, David Dalton from IT Systems and Tom Davis, from TUS.  Breakout workshops and presentations will also be delivered throughout the day by practicing teachers, lecturers, and researchers.  The schedule for the day, including further details of all the sessions, can be found at http://ictedu.ie/conference-2023-shaping-the-future-of-education/schedule-23/.

A pre conference MakerMeet will take place on the evening before the conference, Friday 12th May, from 6.30 – 9pm.  This informal evening of exploration focused on learning through making in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) area will provide opportunities to develop creativity, problem solving and collaboration skills.  The MakerMeet is a free event.
