ESCI - EAL Assessment

Webinar 1 in a series of 3 webinars that have been specially designed and developed for primary teachers of children with EAL.  Over the course of the three workshops, attending teachers will develop evidence-informed and practical skills to support their assessment and collaborative teaching of children with EAL and their instruction of academic language in linguistically diverse contexts.

Webinar 1 Learning Outcomes - 

Webinar one participants will be enabled to:

• Reflect on current EAL assessment knowledge and practices
• Explore assessment definitions, types and approaches
• Develop confidence with Primary School Assessment Kit administration and interpretation
• Review alternative EAL assessment resources

Facilitator: Aoife Merrins Gallagher

Aoife is a primary school teacher with experience in both mainstream and support positions since 2013.  Her recent doctoral research designed, developed and delivered an English-Irish oral narrative programme for nine linguistically diverse infant classrooms (Tell-a-Tale | Inis Scéal).  Aoife frequently facilitates webinars through Education Support Centres, authoring a summer course in support of children with EAL in recent years.
