Collaborative and Effective Literacy Practice (Juniors to 6th Class)

This course will examine effective literacy practice for all classes from Junior Infants to 6th Class in accordance with the Primary Language Curriculum. 

The Course will demonstrate how to prepare for, establish and sustain appropriate and meaningful literacy development in schools and classrooms looking specifically at reading, writing oral language, vocabulary and word work. It will examine effective team teaching and planning and allow teachers to explore how interventions like Lift off and Guided reading can be incorporated into the school day. Teachers will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge of effective planning and assessment and how to evaluate quality literacy interventions to enhance the teaching and learning of children. Suitable for Class Teachers and SEN.

Tutor: Rosie Hogan

Rosie Hogan has been working in schools in Ireland for over 20 years. She was full time Reading Recovery Teacher Leader in Kilkenny from 2006 to 2015 and then returned to her Deis Band 1 school in 2015  were she co ordinates Literacy throughout the School. Rosie has given her time to provide CPD for teachers in many different education centres on the development of literacy interventions and is also co authored on some recent publications. In the last number of years she has trained as a Talk Boost Trainer and works closely with Speech and language therapists in limerick to develop this programme in schools.

All our summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable. Course Fees are not transferrable to another teacher. Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place on one of our courses or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees.

In the event that the minimum number of participants required do not apply then the Centre will be obliged to cancel the course, you may be offered a place on another course or given a refund.
