The Leaving Cert Comparative Section (2027 and 2028) explored through the modes of Theme and Cultural Context of Small Things Like These, Girl on an Altar and Barbie
World's Apart - Barbies, Altars and Convent Walls - Theme & Cultural Context
A comprehensive, exam-focused teaching resource for Leaving Cert. English, designed to compare and contrast three diverse texts - Marina Carr's searing modern tragedy Girl on an Altar, Greta Gerwig's cinematic phenomenon Barbie, and Claire Keegan's quietly devastating novella Small Things Like These. The webinar includes cross textual comparisons under the Theme Mode tracing core conflicts from ancient Mycenae to modern-day Barbie Land and 1980s Ireland; as well as examining the Cultural Context Mode, exploring how the worlds of these texts shape human behaviour.
