Practical Strategies to support children with sensory regulation in the classroom

Practical Strategies to support children with sensory regulation in the classroom

Please note this is a repeat of a very popular webinar held last September.

“When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it's our job to share our calm, not join their chaos.” L.R. Knost

Today, we are hearing more about sensory needs in our classrooms, but what exactly is sensory processing and how can we, as special needs assistants and teachers, support children who experience such difficulties in the classroom?

This course will provide an overview of the sensory systems, sensory processing and how we can identify potential sensory overload in the school environment. Participants will learn practical strategies to support a child experiencing sensory processing difficulties.

Presenters

Sarah Griffin and Louise O’Dwyer combine their skill set, knowledge and experience as Special Education Teacher and Special Needs Assistant, respectively, to deliver this webinar. Participants will have access to a padlet of resources.

Sarah is a Primary school teacher currently working in SET.

Louise is a Special Needs Assistant and Adult Education tutor.
