Facilitating Monotropism at Home and at School

Facilitating Monotropism at Home and at School

Monotropism isn’t a challenge to fix—it’s a beautiful way of being to understand. In this session, we’ll explore how Autistic attention works, why deep focus matters, and what happens when it’s disrupted. You’ll gain practical strategies to support Autistic pupils and children in navigating transitions, choosing activities, and building environments that honour their flow—rather than fragmenting it. A must for anyone supporting Autistic minds with curiosity and care.

Facilitator:

Evaleen Whelton is the founder of AUsome Training, an Autistic-led organisation redefining how we support and include Autistic people. She develops courses, resources, and events grounded in lived experience and professional expertise. With over a decade of work in education, therapy, and advocacy, Evaleen challenges neuro-confirmative models and champions truly respectful, neuro-affirming practice. She believes we need to expand our idea of “normal” to truly include Autistic people. Through her writing, speaking, and training, she works to make the world a safer, more inclusive place for Autistic people of all ages.
